The Malta Employers’ Association held a virtual national conference with the theme Balancing Sustainable Economic Growth with Quality of Life – A National Challenge, on 18 June 2021.
The conference focused on the following aspects of GDP and well-being:
- the limitations of GDP as a metric for gauging prosperity and quality of life;
- recommendations of how GDP growth can be managed to portray a more holistic snapshot of a nation’s wellbeing;
- how the effects of negative externalities can be minimised and how productivity and economic growth can be harnessed and prioritised towards the well-being of our society; and
- how this change in culture can also offer opportunities for businesses and economic growth.
